Below is the Nomination Submitted by Jodi Johnson for Gina Sehon
Dear Mix 93.3 and Country Hill Motors,
I am writing to tell you about the most incredible woman I know, my “sister-friend” Gina Sehon. She was diagnosed with breast cancer on Oct. 3, 2008 and her life has been completely turned upside down ever since. From diagnosis until now, she has lost her job, had a double mastectomy, chemo treatments accompanied by horrible side effects, nursed her mom through a debilitating stroke, had both of her parents living with her until she could find suitable assisted living for them, held an auction of all her parents belongings, had a hysterectomy followed by the complication of pulmonary emboli, nursed 2 of her three kids through Swine Flu and the third through a severely broken arm that required surgery and acquired thousands of dollars of medical bills. Today, Gina still faces the final reconstructive surgery from her mastectomy and all the medications and complications that follow in the 5 years after the end of treatment for Breast Cancer.
The amazing thing about her is that through all of this she has been the most wonderful wife, mother, daughter, sister and friends to so many. She even found time to join my team for the 3-Day Breast Cancer Walk in Chicago where in spite of the fact that she had little time or energy for training, she was able to walk over 40 of the full 60 miles and helped our team raise over $14,000 for Breast Cancer research. There is truly no stopping this woman.
My sister-friend Gina remains stead fast and true to all of us who marvel at how she can get out of bed and face each day. People say, “God only gives you what you can handle”. Well, I’m not sure what he thinks she can handle, but the past year has certainly been more than most of us can deal with in a lifetime. Yet she has more faith, more spirit, and more life than anyone I know. She is more than deserving of this gift than I could ever put into words. I love her dearly and she will forever be my very, very best “sister-friend”.
Thank you for providing this gift for us.
Jodi Johnson
